Translation prices

In France, it is standard practice for customers to be invoiced for the number of French words, regardless of the direction of the translation.

In instances where the source text is written in a foreign language, it is necessary to use something
we call a word count increase in order to determine the number of target French words.

For example, the word count increases for common European languages are:

  • English: 1,20
  • German and Dutch: 1,45
  • Spanish and Italian: 1,10
  • Portuguese: 1,15

For instance, you need to multiply the number of English words by 1.20 to get the number of French words to be invoiced.

2011 prices for 100 French words:

  • English: €16 per 100 words (excl. VAT), i.e. €40 per 250-word page (excl. VAT)
  • Spanish: €16 per 100 words (excl. VAT), i.e. €40 per 250-word page (excl. VAT)
  • German: €17 per 100 words (excl. VAT), i.e. €42.50 per 250-word page (excl. VAT)
  • Dutch: €17 per 100 words (excl. VAT), i.e. €42.50 per 250-word page (excl. VAT)
