1.Do you need the interpreting to be “invisible”, effective and simultaneous?

If the answer is yes, you need to choose simultaneous interpreting with a booth, which means professional interpreters and equipment – without equipment no simultaneous interpreting can take place!

2.Do you need the interpreting to be simultaneous but on a lower budget with a little less transparency?

In addition to professional interpreters, you will also need mobile interpreting equipment comprising of a microphone and rechargeable headsets.

This solution cuts costs but interpreters are more visible, and interacting is more difficult.

3.Are you organising a more informal negotiation meeting in a small group which hinges on face-to-face interaction?

If so, simultaneous interpreting is not the right choice. Depending on the strategic content of the meeting, either a conference interpreter will work using consecutive interpreting techniques (by reproducing what is said every X number of minutes using their notes) or a liaison interpreter will informally interpret the discussions between participants. It is worth noting, however, that this kind of interpreting can result in meetings taking twice as long.

4.Are you organising an event with a VIP who will speak before an audience?

If so, only a professional conference interpreter with lots of experience in consecutive interpreting will do when it comes to reproducing practically every word of the speaker’s speech. This form of interpreting is the most challenging and difficult since interpreters are required to be concise, able to speak in public and have a full grasp of the topic under discussion.
