Since 1981, CG Traduction & Interprétation has been tirelessly consolidating its position on the translation industry market, as it strives to create fair relationships built on mutual trust as part of a people-focused approach.

Our interpreting department, which was set up in 1984, is well-known for its high level of professionalism in political, sports and industrial spheres, but to some extent, this is no longer enough…

Having come to this conclusion, Catherine Granell, Founder of CG, contacted Lori Thicke, Founder of Lexcelera and Translators Without Borders to talk about the possible need to implement an Interpreters Without Borders drive. The response was enthusiastic since TWB (Translators Without Borders), with its head office now in the USA, was constantly asked to perform voluntary interpreting work.

And so Interpreters Without Borders was born in Versailles.

With the structure created and the Board of Directors formed, the next step involves contacting all of the NGOs to identify their needs. We have already identified a need for Chinese interpreting in Paris for Chinese prostitutes, but there is still much work to be done, even in Paris.

The challenge we face involves gathering the necessary funds to carry out our initiatives. The funds will be granted in return for a commitment on behalf of the NGO to invest the amounts saved in a specific humanitarian project.

We need to round up people who – be they part of our team or not – are prepared to give up their free time to help those who need our linguistic and cultural expertise. In France, it is the most disadvantaged groups who do not speak French and cannot get the help they need. Across the world, in all humanitarian situations, help needs to be given to NGOs so that they can carry out their job in a country whose language they do not speak: architects, doctors, osteopaths, reporters, etc.

We need your help to turn interpreting into a force for good in a violent world dominated by profitability.

If you would like to join Interpreters Without Borders to offer your services, get involved in an initiative or make a tax-deductible donation, please get in touch with me.
